Unique to the Tatra Workshops

On this Tatra weekend workshop we wiill have 1 overnight stay in a remote Tatra mountain cottage. We will walk (2 hours to location) to a remote mountain cottage located in one of the valleys of the Tatra national park. This location is surrounded by the beautiful mountain valleys, rugged Tatra peaks and three lake locations perfect for reflections and sunrise shots. The mountain saddle will provide us with plenty of sunset opportunities.

Wild Brown bears (Ursus arctos arctos) are the focus of our 5-day wildlife photography adventure from the comfort and safety of specially designed photography Brown Bear hides in the natural setting of the Carpathian mountains, Slovakia.

Tatra photography have exclusive use of 4 hides specially located in the national park to photograph Wild Brown Bears in their natural environment, each day we will spend around 5 hours in the early mornings and 5 hours for late evening session’s in each hide. During the day we will catch up on some rest and our professional photography tutor Craig Jones will provide tutorial and feed back sessions.

With an inclusive package, which includes flight, transfers and accommodation, we’ve come up with a unique workshop that will ensure you capture once-in-a-lifetime images of some of Europe’s most endangered and enigmatic species.

Over the course of five days in the field, we will enjoy numerous opportunities to capture spectacular images of Europe’s top predator and endangered wildlife in natural forest settings. And, with the help of top wildlife pro’ Craig Jones, we’ll ensure you return home with images you’ll be proud of.

Join Tatra Photography in the highest mountains of the Italian Appennine. This is a true Abruzzo adventure where rugged cliffs and mountain meadows in full bloom surround a harmonious and ancient countryside.

We will look for spring colours among the icons of this landscape. The blooms will be the protagonists of our excursions in the mountains, campions, gentians, anemones, alpine poppies and many other rare alpine species bring colour to the highest altitudes in the mountain massif of the Gran Sasso.

At dawn, we will be on location when the first light illuminates the vast plateau of Campo Imperatore, the “Little Tibet” of Italy, and the major peaks of the Gran Sasso. We will also enjoy the silence and atmosphere of an archaic and unique landscape and also have the chance to enjoy the  delicacies of the regional cuisine of the pastoral tradition.

We will also have the chance to photograph the spectacular blooms of cultivated fields, where red poppies and cornflowers blend with white daisies: a classic that never disappoints and always brings great photographic satisfaction. In the evening we can experiment with different techniques to portray the myriad of stars that shine behind mountains and castles.

From mighty cascading waterfalls and spouting geysers to colossal glaciers, magnificent coastlines, majestic mountains and hot volcanoes. And, of course, there is the awe-inspiring natural phenomenon of Aurora Borealis – the Northern Lights – enhanced by 2012’s Solar Maximus.

On this South Iceland Photography Landscape Masterclass we will take you to the very best photography locations south Iceland has to offer,  hand-picked by local experts in consultation with our professional photographic guides we will visit the rugged volcanic landscapes, the iconic giant waterfalls, glacier lagoon, the black volcanic coastline and with a little bit of luck the elusive Northern Lights.

For this Iceland photography workshop we have purposely avoided the very busy tourist season in Iceland of June, July & August, there is no point in taking you to the amazing photography locations Iceland has to offer if there are coach loads of people stood where you want to be shooting! The Land of the Midnight Sun – Lofoten Islands archipelago offers you breathtaking and unforgettable scenery above the Arctic Circle, this group of small islands rise majestically from the sea with alpine mountain peaks soaring to over 1000 meters. The mountains, sweeping fjords, white sandy beaches and tiny fishing settlements make the Lofoten Islands a photographers dream.

The midnight sun is a natural phenomenon occurring in summer months between the spring equinox and the autumnal equinox north of the Arctic Circle. During these special hours which produces incredible colour and light that lasts for hours we will visit locations of coastal beaches, fjords. Lakes, mountains and fishing villages backed up with the incredible mixture of colours in the sky as the sun dips to the horizon.

We will photograph the midnight sun during two evenings and for three evenings we will catch the sun as it dips below the horizon. Tatra photography provide photographic tuition with British professional photographer Lee Pengelly, during the workshop you will be able to learn all the different techniques to photograph the lakes & mountains of Lofoten and come home with some outstanding images. During our North Iceland photography tour we will be staying 3 nights at Hotel Framnes situated by the seaside with impressive views of the fjord and Icelandic mountains with the Snæfellsjökull Glacier only a short drive away.

Hotel Framnes offers spacious en-suite rooms with free Wi-Fi and seating area with TV.  All rooms at Framnes Hotel have tea and coffee facilities. Each room boasts views of either the mountains or the sea.

The fully-licensed restaurant and bar seats up to 60 guests and serves home baked bread, fresh seafood delicacies and Icelandic lamb dishes and a good selection of vegetarian options.

For relaxation guests can make the use of the sauna, hot tub and massage chair.

During the rest of our stay on the Iceland photography tour we will stay for 2 nights at the Hotel Reynihlid located in the heart of the beautiful Lake Myvatn region.
