Join Tatra Photography for a photography tour in the world famous Serengeti which is home to the great wildebeest migration . One of the highlights of the migration is the calving season which sees the arrival of newborn zebra and wildebeest calves. Its also the best time in the Southern Serengeti to see the highest concentration of predators anywhere in Africa.
The large lion prides, spotted hyena clans, and high concentrations of cheetah, which patrol the short grass plains sit in waiting for the calving. With approximately 500,000 wildebeest born in a month and the huge amount of predators our camp in the southern part of the Serengeti is strategically placed to capture all the action as it happens.
The Serengeti also houses a huge variety of other animals including the Big Five and cheetah, Thomson’s and Grant’s gazelle, waterbuck, hyena, baboon, impala, African wild dog, and giraffe. The park also hosts about 400 bird species, such as ostrich, secretary bird, crowned crane, marabou stork, martial eagle, lovebirds, and many species of vultures.
Our experienced guides know every inch of the park where early morning and late afternoon game drives are focused on the migration and the other species and predators that come with this incredible spectacle. The bird life is also particularly good on the forest edge where woodpeckers and brightly coloured kingfishers can often be seen.
Your tour leader and photographic tutor will be with you throughout the trip in order to help you make the most of your passion for the photography of wildlife. He has a wealth of knowledge to share, and will be on hand at all times in the field to offer guidance in a relaxed and informal manner. To expand on the field based instruction your tutor will also provide further teaching by way of group tutorials held during breaks between game drives and on some evenings. In these sessions he will discuss the creative processes behind recording thrilling and memorable images of African wildlife, as well as provide inspiration for new ideas and photographic techniques for you to try.
Feedback on your pictures is crucially important to help you expand and refine your wildlife photography skills; Our tutors are keen to provide this at any time during the trip, whether on a one-to-one basis, or during the tutorial sessions. You will also be encouraged to seek instruction and ask questions to ensure you learn and gain the most from the photographic opportunities. In short your tutor will help you acquire the photographs you have come to capture!

He completed his first book, The Nikon Compendium, during 2003. With nearly 400 pages and Simon’s own extensive photography of Nikon cameras, Nikkor lenses, and Nikon system accessories, it represents a comprehensive history of the Nikon system for the user and collector alike.
